Paint

Post  ingriddanielle on Mon Mar 31, 2008 2:51 pm

The Paint CD by far is my favorite. I became a MLSW fan all at once and got all 3 CD's at the same time. Paint is the one that has truly spoken to my heart. Lyrically, MLSW has some of the most prescient lyrics written by a gospel musician. It speaks to my everyday life without being preachy or overbearing. Lang's approach to the Gospel mirrors my personal approach to ministering and life.

I am the first to admit that when it comes to being "religious" and "doctrinal" I fall short, but my heart is for the Lord and although my approach maybe unconventional my spirit thrives in being able to show the world that salvation doesn't have to equal offensive, exclusionary and divisive. There is room for all of us in the safety of Jesus' arms, and no matter your background , socio-economic status or any of the other labels we place on each other Jesus has a spot set aside specifically for you.

I've said in other threads that "Full Attention" is my favorite song, but it is a favorite out of many. The Paint project speaks to the everyday living of salvation without the "You going to Hell" fire and brimstone, you are not saved like me hypocritical crap that scares people away from Jesus.

Hey Ingrid...
Ok, first of all, "prescient"... That's a new one on me ! and as my mother would say, I'm going to " look it up...". LOL Thanks for letting us know how our music and ministry comes across in your ears. Funny thing -- Nicole is the one who always say that MLSW's strength is in our approach particularly to those "non-religious" types... and ironically she is the one singing the lead on your favorite song - Full Attention. So...maybe her heart is what you hear in the vocals ! ;-) Love ya. Stay tuned !

I know Nicole is right. I keep you guys in constant rotation with Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin and Israel Houghton. When people ride with me you can always tell where they stand in relation to religion and having a heart for God. People caught up in "religion" sometimes lose sight of the purpose of Jesus' sacrifice. It was to save everyone willing to accept him and to make room for non Jews in the promise of salvation. Now, if in his wisdom he did all that with one act, imagine his disgust with us when we in turn make a persons life expierence a condition of their salvation. ie. Pregnant teens being told they are unworthy and treated like they have a scarlett A tatooed to their forehead or the crackhead/alcoholic treated like they are too dirty even be welcome in the sanctuary. This is the appeal to MLSW for me. It meets not only me but others right where they are and ministers there. Empty is the perfect example of that. This song ministers to an experience and speaks to the real emotion of being in a failed or failing relationship without "preaching", but you know the escape is strength through Christ. Thank you for doing you, especially in this age of religious cliques.

COOL BEANS =]

Everything that was said is true. I agree how telling someone through song, the word of mouth, or anyway about Jesus Christ is not by preaching to them. "Preaching" as in The Lord says this, if you don't do this hell is where you are going to go, you are a sinner, etc.. It is all about real experiences that we have everyday and how we go through them. And the way we do go through them is step by step, in the steps of Jesus though. Not this whole religious thing where we have to go to church and get laid out and start speaking in tongues, which has kinda set on older folk (traditional folk). But this is a new age we all are dealing with and MLSW surely breaksthrough those boundaries.
